One thing that I have always loved about rural communities is the ability people have to work together. Historically people often relied upon a friend or neighbours willingness to lend a helping hand. By working together they achieved goals which would have been hard, if not impossible to accomplish by themselves. They erected Community Halls, churches & schools — formed beef rings & shared telephone lines. Maybe this didn’t mean that they necessarily always got along with one another – but there was an understanding that each one of them was doing what they could to survive and support their families.

These communities were less of a competitive environment – but more a cooperative one – with a shared sense of responsibility for the well being of individuals within the community.
At Jenkins Ranche we still believe in these strong values of yesterday. Our belief is that the better each one of us does individually, the better we do as a whole community.
As a means of carrying on with these historical values we have a new feature on our website which is a page titled “Friends of Jenkins Ranche”. On this page we are happy to spread the word about the good people who have supported us and our community over the years. Each month on our blog we are going to introduce you to a different “Friend” of ours, and we hope you will take a minute or two to check out their websites and see what they have to offer.
